Curriculum

The curriculum is based on the developmental process, is child-centered and lends to the NATURAL development and sequence of learning – one which takes its direction from the child’s needs rather than from time schedules created by adults.

Recognizing that PLAY IS ESSENTIAL to learning, our environment is designed whereby children learn through their play.  Children test, explore, discover, adapt, classify, organize and recognize their experiences as they play.

The curriculum is designed with a child’s social, emotional, physical, intellectual and adaptive behaviors in mind.  Children experience science, math, history, and language through a “hands-on” approach.

Pre-Kindergarten Program

Children enrolled in the Pre-K session attend one day a week as a supplement to our regular nursery school programs.  Pre-K curriculum is designed specifically for the nursery “graduating class” and focuses on kindergarten preparation. Pre-K also includes an excellent gymnastics program which develops body awareness, agility and balance, while promoting confidence and coordination.

How Our Program Benefits You and Your Child

Your child gains the ability to relate to and communicate with adults and children his/her own age through a variety of experiences such as: supervised use of safe play equipment both indoors and outdoors, sensory motor program, non-structured learning periods, exposure to music, art, books, sharing and creative projects and community oriented field trips.  These and other enriching experiences result in a positive attitude towards future learning.

The cooperative environment of our program lends support to family relationships so that the parents:

  • share experiences with other parents and discover new resources within themselves,

  • develop an increased awareness of their role in a positive, healthful family life,

  • enjoy being a part of their child’s first school experiences,

  • participate in the learning experience of their children and

  • reinforce their sense of confidence and adequacy in their role as parents.
